Passport Services
Please read the following carefully and fulfil all the requirements. Failure to fulfil the requirements may result in delaying the processing time or denial of the issuance of the passport.
- The Embassy is currently issuing a new electronic passport that requires finger print.
- Applicants who have submitted finger prints upon receipt of an electronic passport earlier are not required to submit fingerprints again. However, if applicants have an old /manual/ passport or were exempted due to age in previopuse times, they are obliged to do so during applicantion.
- Applicant under the age of 14 are exempted from providing finger prints.
- The Embassy also advise all applicants to submit their applications AT LEAST 45 DAYS AHEAD of their planned travel date or prior to applying for any other services that require a valid passport.
- If the Embassy requests you to submit an additional document, please send it within a week. If you are informed for the third time to submit the necessary document and if you fail to submit the requested document, the Embassy shall be obliged to send your original document back to you and you will be requested to apply anew.

A. New or Replacement Passport Services
First-time Ethiopian Passports
To apply for a new (and first) Ethiopian passport, please read the following information carefully.
1. Fill and submit TWO copies pf passport application form. All applications must be made in person as applicants will be required to give fingerprints at the Embassy
2. Attach FOUR recent passport-sized colour photographs, using a paper clip. Ensure name is written on the reverse of the photographs
3. Applicants must produce documents that certify their citizenship. Documents allowed can be copies of previous(old) passport, Birth Certificate, Residence Permit.COPIES OF THE DOCUMENT MUST ALSO BE SUBMITTED.
4. Passort fees:
The following methods of payment are accepted:
- Cash
- Banker's Drafts
- Postal Orders - made payable to The Ethiopian Embassy.
- Payment by cheque or any means other than those stated above, cannot be accepted.
B. New passport for Children born abroad
The Parent should answer All of the questions on the form.
1. Fill and submit TWO copies pf passport application form. All applications must be made in person as applicants will be required to give fingerprints at the Embassy
2. Attach FOUR recent passport-sized colour photographs, using a paper clip. Ensure the child's name is written on the reverse of the photographs
3. The child's parents must produce documents that certify their citizenship. Documents allowed can be copies of previous(old) passport, Birth Certificate, Residence Permit.COPIES OF THE DOCUMENT MUST ALSO BE SUBMITTED.
5. A copy of the Child's Birth Certificate will be required.
4. Passort fees:

- Postal Orders - made payable to The Ethiopian Embassy.
- Payment by cheque or any means other than those stated above, cannot be accepted.
C. Replacement of lost or stolen Ethiopian passports
To apply for the replacement of a lost or stolen Ethiopian passport, please read the following information carefully.
1. Fill and submit TWO copies pf passport application form. All applications must be made in person as applicants will be required to give fingerprints at the Embassy
2. Attach FOUR recent passport-sized colour photographs, using a paper clip. Ensure name is written on the reverse of the photographs
3.The applicant shall write a letter to the Embassy stating that he/she is not a citizen of another country
4. Applicants shall submit copies of lost or stolen passport.
5. A copy of the police report detailing the circumstances of the loss of your passport, must also be submitted.

- Payment by cheque or any means other than those stated above, cannot be accepted.
D. Replacement of old or expired Ethiopian passports
To apply for the replacement of an old or expired Ethiopian passport, please read the following information carefully.

2. Attach TWO recent passport-sized colour photographs, using a paper clip. Ensure name is written on the reverse of the photographs
3. Applicants shall submit the old or expired passport
