NOTICE
Ethiopian ID Card Renewal
June 29, 2015
It is to be recalled that a penalty has been levied on those who failed to renew ID cards given to persons of Ethiopian origin. In view of the feedback received from members of the Diaspora, the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has waived the penalty fee until 6th August 2015 (Hamle 30, 2007).
The Embassy therefore calls on all members of the Diaspora to renew their ID cards on time before the expiry of this new deadline.
More information via the the following link.
New business visa regulations became effective as of 19th January 2015. Applicants are advised to allow at least 2 weeks before the date of travel.
Applicants seeking to apply for a business visa to Ethiopia will now require approval from the Main Department of Immigration and Nationality Affairs in Addis Ababa.
Applicants are encouraged to submit a formal application letter to the Immigration Office requesting visas, with details of their trip and once approved (normally within a few days), the Embassy will be able to issue a visa straight away.
Applications by journalists and professional photographers may take longer, up to three weeks. Please contact the Press Office in advance to enquire about accreditations and permits
