The 10th edition of Africa's biggest road race, the Great Ethiopian Run 10km, takes place this coming Sunday.

More than 35,000 runners are expected to take part in the race on a new course which includes the Gotera overpass and which has been designed to cater for larger numbers.

To celebrate the race's 10th edition a special photographic exhibition featuring pictures of winners from the race's previous nine editions is being staged on Friday morning at the Hilton Hotel. The event boasts an impressive roster of past winners including Haile Gebrselassie, Berhane Adere, Tirunesh Dibaba, Sileshi Sihin, Gebremariam Gebregziabiher, Deriba Merga and Tsegaye Kebede.

Once again the race will welcome some high-profile names from the world of international sport including Ireland's John Treacy, Holland's Lornah Kiplagat and Abel Anton from Spain.

More than 250 participants from abroad will also take part in the race, many raising money for charity.

A new addition to this year's event is a prize category for eight government organizations representing the eight Millennium Development Goals. This year's race message is "We Can end Poverty".
