International Construction Exhibition - (Ethio-Con 2010)
The Construction Contractors Association of Ethiopia is organizing the seventh edition of the International Construction Exhibition (Ethio-con 2010) to be held from September 22 – 26, 2010 at the Addis Ababa Exhibition Center. It is to be recalled that the past six editions of the International Construction Exhibitions organized by the Association were amongst the highly successful specialized exhibitions held in the country. Particularly, the last four consecutive editions have witnessed the participation of foreign firms from Germany, Italy, Turkey and Egypt among others. The event includes a one day symposium that discusses contemporary issues of the sector to the benefit of the players in the industry and the clients in general.
As you are well aware of, the construction sector in Ethiopia has been growing in unprecedented rate during the past years. Some of the reasons for this are the priorities given by the government to develop the infrastructure of the country and the wide involvement of the private sector and nongovernmental organizations in the development of various aspects of infrastructure. As a result, both the demand and the supply side of the construction sector in the country have shown considerable growth.
There are convincing reasons to assume that this trend will continue unabated in the years to come. Many of the towns and cities of the various regions of the country have embarked upon developing master plans to engage in developments of infrastructures including, residential quarters and business and public centers. Owing to the expansion of cement factories in response to the growing demand for construction inputs, (eleven new cement plants are expected to start operations in the next three years time) the sector that seemed to slow down last year is expected to get its momentum in the years to come. This trend has been and will continue to open ample opportunities for local and foreign companies engaged in construction activities and suppliers of inputs for the sector. The Construction Contractors’ Association of Ethiopia also believes that the influx of foreign companies creates opportunities to local contractors as it provides the chance of experience sharing, possibilities of joint ventures arrangements and strategic alliances.
With a view to contributing its part for the development of the sector, the Construction Contractors Association of Ethiopia has been undertaking various Business Development Services including the organization of such specialized exhibitions. Owing to the success of the Association in effectively serving the interest of the players in the sector, the number of members has now reached more than 1,400 companies, which is unprecedented in the history of sector specific associations in Ethiopia.
The Construction Contractors’ Association of Ethiopia is making preparations to achieve higher presence of foreign companies engaged in the construction sector, including, contractors, engineers, architects and suppliers of construction inputs, in this seventh edition of the International Construction Exhibition with the hope that it would provide better opportunity for local contractors to enhance their competitiveness trough experience sharing and forging partnership with foreign companies engaged in the sector.
To this end, the organizer of the exhibition has prepared attractive packages to encourage the participation of countries across the world to take advantages of exploring the opportunities in the rapidly growing construction sector of Ethiopia. The package will include reasonable lease rates and assistances provided by the organizer in facilitating entry visas for those coming from countries where Ethiopia does not have diplomatic missions and facilitation of their individual requirement such as accommodation and clearing of their exhibits.
The Construction Contractors’ Association of Ethiopia is cordially invites your esteemed company to participate in this important event and promote your products and services in the growing Ethiopian market.
